Aunt Helena Janzen's Funeral & Memorial Service

Author
Ruth Marlene Friesen -Saskatoon, SK. Canada

Aunt Helena, Mom's last remaining sister, had been eager to go Home to Glory for a long time. She was finally able to go on June 25, 2004. A small funeral and graveside service was held on July 1 from the Waldheim Salem Church, their home town.

(June and her family are the four on the right, son Andrew, June, her daughter Larissa, and husband Steve Wilson.

June's brother John Janzen, and his wife Cathy, could not come until the following week, Monday. So June planned a Memorial service for that evening.

John and Cathy Janzen, with sister June Wilson for the Memorial service.

Other special guests of honour were our uncles, Isbrand Kroeker, (Chilliwack, B.C.) and Henry Kroeker (Castor, AB), the last surviving siblings of 11 children that our dear Grosz'mama Kroeker bore. Here Uncle Henry is on the left of John, and Uncle Isbrand, also known to some as Randy, is on the right of June.

June has exceptionally fond memories of Uncle Isbrand for he was a boarder in her parents home when she was a little girl in B.C. (I grew up with more contact with Uncle Henry, so he's my favourite, but they are both very special. We prize these Uncles!)

June's family posed for group photos too. Steve (a lawyer), Larissa, son Andrew, and June.
